Cal-bred Pair at Northlands

EDMONTON, Canada (Aug. 1, 2008) -- California-breds Plagiarist and Laketon meet in Monday’s $50,000 Sun Sprint Championship Handicap at Northlands Park.

Plagiarist is by Souvenir Copy, out of the Seattle Slew mare Feature Article, was bred by Betty Mabee, foaled at Golden Eagle Farm, is owned by Side Management and trained by Jim Meyaard. The $11,500 Barretts purchase has five wins in 24 starts, earnings of $168,455 and is coming off a July 5 optional claiming win.

Laketon is by Lake George, out of the Greinton mare Novelton, was bred by Barbara Quog and Claudine Molick, was foaled at Faith Farm and is owned by trainer Don Gilkyson. The $1,500 Barretts purchase has 11 wins in 37 starts, earnings of $145,254 and is coming off a sixth in a July 5 handicap.
