Cal-bred Trio in Emerald

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (July 30, 2008) -- California-breds Switzerland, Mr Playwright and Canard are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Claiming Crown Emerald Stakes at Canterbury Park.

Switzerland is by Swiss Yodeler, out of the Pentelicus mare Kid Friendly, was bred by David and Elaine Parks, was foaled at Pepper Oaks Farm, is owned by Adam Lewis and trained by Keith Bennett. He has eight wins in 33 starts, earnings of $187,550 and is coming off a sixth in the July 20 Bullit.

Mr Playwright is by Vaudeville, out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Irish Carey, was bred by and foaled at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, is owned by Karen Petersen and trained by Manuel Uriza. He has four wins in 24 starts, earnings of $66,318 and is coming off a fourth in a July 13 optional claimer.

Canard is by Flying Continental, out of the Prince Card mare Strawberry Card, was bred by Frank Reynolds, foaled at Harris Farms, is owned by Richard Galyen and trained by David Van Winkle. He has five wins in 17 starts, earnings of $59,330 and is coming off a sixth in a July 13 optional claimer.
