Popular Gets First Winner

SOLANO, Calif. (June 20, 2008) -- California stallion Popular was represented by his first winner Friday when Fashionista won the eighth race, a maiden special weight for 2-year-old filles, at the Solano County Fair.

Fashionista is out of the Devil On Ice mare Ivy Lane, was bred by owners Lorraine and Rod Rodriguez, foaled at Cottonwood Creek Ranch and is trained by Greg James. She ran the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03.28 and won by two lengths at odds of 9-1.

Popular, a son of Saint Ballado, stands at Cottonwood Creek Ranch. Fashionista is only his second starter.
