Marino Marini Gets First Winner
DEL MAR, Calif. (July 16, 2008) -- California freshman stallion Marino Marini was represented by his first winner Wednesday when Miguel’s Mascot won a $54,600 maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds at Del Mar.
Miguel’s Mascot is out of the Devil’s Bag mare Lovely Pet and was bred by owner Rancho San Miguel, where he was foaled. He ran the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04.48 and won by 2 ¼ lengths at odds of 3-1.
