Lava Man Seeks End to Drought
DEL MAR, Calif. (July 17, 2008) --
California-bred legend Lava Man has the rail in a seven-horse field
entered in Sunday’s $400,000 Grade I Eddie Read Handicap at 1 1/8 miles
on the Del Mar turf course.
Lava Man is by Slew City Slew, out
of the Nostalgia’s Star mare Li’l Ms. Lenoard, was bred by Lonnie
Arterburn and Kim and Eve Kuhlmann, was foaled at Popular Meadows and is
owned by STD Racing and Jason Wood.
The former $50,000 claim has 17
wins in 45 starts, earnings of $5,268,706 and is coming off a third in
the June 7 Charles Whittingham. His last win was the June 9, 2007
Hollywood Gold Cup.
