ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2003) -- Green Team, claimed for $32,000 in July, out-dueled millionaires Men's Exclusive and Full Moon Madness and went on to win Saturday's $150,000 California Cup Donald Valpredo Sprint at Oak Tree at Santa Anita in stakes-record time.

The 4-year-old son of Huddle Up is out of the Moscow Ballet mare Scare Tactics and was bred by Harris Farms, which co-bred the winners of Saturday's Cal Cup Distance and Distaff, Moscow Burning and Blind Ambition. Harris Farms also bred or co-bred past Cal Cup winners Unlimited Value, Super High, Teresa Mc, As We Know It and Reality Changes.

Green Team, runner-up behind Trapper in the California Sprint Championship in his last race, won for the eighth time in 28 starts and raised his career earnings to $386,622. He won by two lengths at 5-1 and ran the six furlongs in 1:07.98, breaking the stakes record of 1:08.28 set by Answer Do in 1992. He has finished no worse than second in his last seven races.

Green Team is owned by Ferro Family Trust and Bonde, trained by Jeff Bonde and was ridden by Victor Espinoza, his second win on the day.

Summer Service was second and Trapper was third.
